If you thought printed newspapers are old-fashioned, think again. You might find yourself surprised by the extra value that can be added to traditional newsprint through the innovative usage of augmented reality, 3D printing, fabulous posters and many other exciting enhancements.
This was clearly proved by the entries in Newsawards 2015, showcasing the best in both printed and digital media. The winners were announced on 29 April in London.
UPM’s premier award, “Printed Innovation of the Year”, went to Newbury Weekly News for their Augmented Reality 3D application.
First introduced in 2013, UPM’s premier award has rapidly become one of the most sought-after categories to win. Recognising that innovation is key to the continuing success of newsprint, the category has attracted fantastic entries and wide international coverage.
The judges were looking for entries that demonstrate the most innovative, creative or marketable newsprint applications demonstrating commercial benefits to printers and publishers.
