Forests are one of our planet's key natural resources, and the basis for UPM’s sustainable products. We ensure that all our forestry and wood sourcing activities operate to the principles of sustainable forest management. The origin of the wood we use is always known and responsible forest management practices are assured for every source.

All the forests owned by UPM are certified. UPM’s wood supplies, both our own forests and other sources, are covered by a certified chain of custody. UPM aims to maximise the use of certified fibre and promotes the use of certified wood globally.

UPM also manages its own forests to enhance their biological diversity, natural ecosystems and their positive role in the carbon cycle absorbing CO₂. Our global biodiversity programme for UPM-owned forests aims to maintain and increase their biological diversity, resulting in forests full of life.
